Here's a story for you...

As a kid, I started out with simple leg and arm jerking; mostly on the left side. (Which is still my "main side" for my tics...) I remember my granddaddy threatening to spank me because I "drew back at him" during one of my tic spells. Unfortunately, he passed away before we got the final diagnosis on what's causing my tics. I wish he was still around to support me on my journey dealing with this mess... but I know he's still here in spirit! Anyway; I also developed a "laughing" tic... wasn't quite laughing, but a lot of people thought it was. That tic comes and goes... my most prevalent tics is the arm jerking and head jerking. Those are what get me pegged as a "drug addict" and a "tweaker." It's ignorance like this that causes a lot of those who experience the effects of tic disorders to become basically hermits who never leave their houses. My hope is to spread more awareness of this and get rid of the ignorance.Â
